After decades of painting scenes of Venice and Santa Monica, where I've spent most of my life, I'm preparing to set off on a new adventure back east.

Before I go, I'm offering a few special pieces from my personal collection to local art lovers. These one-of-a-kind artworks are available for local pickup or delivery only. I think of my paintings as my kids. I'd love to see them find happy new homes!

For 40 years, I lived and worked in a cozy studio in Venice Beach. On hundreds of evenings, I strolled a block west to catch a panoramic view of the sunset from this spot at a favorite haunt just north of Venice Pier.

I first painted this scene looking north across Santa Monica Bay in the 1980s. I painted this latest rendition in the summer of 2025. This is my most recent painting of this wonderful perspective.

Evening Light on Retro Canal

This was among my earliest Venice nightscapes. It was inspired by hundreds of sunset strolls along the historic canals. I painted the original this print was based on in the early 80s, when the era of major developments in the canals first started, and rows of cottages like those I painted here began to vanish.

Evening Light on Retro Canal was one of two of my paintings chosen by representatives of Disney/ABC to be displayed on the set of the popular television show Black-ish, which aired for eight seasons.
